| British RIB builders are considered to be very famous in the RIB industry because they manage to build high performance, light hulls that can be moved by small engines and they are always keeping their offshore character. RIBEYE is one of these companies. | |

The
boat is the smallest boat in the market that expresses the new thought of
the British RIB building school. The hull of a delta configuration with an oval shape from the bow to aft and in this way is the smallest boat in the market. A Delta oval shaped hull means curved surfaces of the hull on both axis a design that offers soft sailing, high performance with small engines and high economy and autonomy. The hull of the 6.50 is the same as that of the 7.40 which comes out of the same mould which has a movable transom taking out the cantilever bracket of the 7.40 and reducing the length of the hull by 35 cms. |
| Deck
was one of the weak points of the British made RIBs. That is not very many
storage spaces, and a plain finishing. For these reasons this boat has been designed in one of the most demanding RIB markets GREECE!! We start with the hull. The hull at the bow is at 560 and at the transom it ends up at 260 instead of 250 of the 7.40 due to the reduction of the 35 cms. Delta shaped (Oval designed hulls) work better than other conventional hulls due to their ability to have less surface in contact with the sea waves therefore reducing the chines coming into contact with the water a situation that usually responsible for hull vibrations. In addition all the arches help so that a shape of a drop is made which is the absolute hydrodynamic shape for a hull. Therefore, there are smaller friction surfaces and the boat gets better performance all round. RIBEYEs shape has all the above ingredients. There are three steps on each side that they lift the bow up therefore (according to the British school) avoid any screwing in the sea. The angle is variable starting on a negative angle in the bow section and ending at a neutral angle aft. The deck design is made for cruising in the hot Mediterranean and specially Southern France, Italy and Greece. There are plenty of stowage places, holds and pockets to take stores, equipment and provisions for a family of four for a long what is now called marine camping. The boat comes with inox fuel tank of 220 ltrs and it also has fresh water 50 ltrs tank. The pontoons have constant diameter of 46+ cm made out of H/N Pennel Flipo ORCA 1670 dtex. Construction is made under Lloyds specifications without using any wood in the hull. This is an offshore boat and the company suggests 115-175 bhp engines. With a Yamaha 200 hpdi and a power tech prop FJG 23 the boat comes to plane at about 7 knots. Top speed at 6200 revs comes to 53.8 miles per hour and cruising speed at 4000 revs is at 34.7 knots. With a Honda BF 130 and an SS standard 19 prop the boat top performance at 5900 revs is 42.5 knots and has a cruising speed at 4000 revs of 27.2 knots. |
